A hard to find vintage matching boxed set of handmade Mappin & Webb M Trustworthy signed Stainless Steel cheese Knives with Cream Ivorine Handle and signed rounded blade. These wonderful knives are probably 1930s / 1940s and appear to be unused. Also carrying the coveted quality Mappin & Webb name makes this a very rare desirable set of cheese knives. Difficult to find another in this condition.The vintage knives are each engraved with “Mappin & Webb M Trustworthy, Sheffield, Stainless” with the Trustworthy brand name in a wavy ribbon and the capital M above.The box with its wonderful vintage branding features what appears to be a stylish Musketeer and says “M Trustworthy Corporate Mark, Mappin & Webb Ltd, Mappin Brothers Incorporated, Tusca Stainless cheese Knives, the box i in very good condition for age Manufactory The Royal Cutlery & Plate Works, Sheffield, London Show Rooms”. Also has cleaning directions and sharpening information”. A wonderful piece of English social history.
Ivorine is a vintage material often used in the 1930s and 40s to make the cutlery handles.
