Victorian silver hallmarked hey diddle diddle christening spoon and beaker. Both items very heavily chased both items made by Henry Charles Freeman who was working in birmingham between 1896 and 1911. both have same hallmark of anchor lion and date letter a but strangely have different registration marks. The spoon has rd 340027 for 1900 and the beaker has rd351661 also for the year 1900. So they are both 123 years old. The spoon is in excellent condition for its age with HEY DIDDLE DIDDLE written in the bowl of the spoon the cat and the fiddle there’s the little dog laughing the cow jumping over the moon and the dish running away with the spoon all in the bowl of the spoon. Repeated on the handle of the spoon is the cat cow and laughing dog.Unfortanatly the beaker has not survived as well as the spoon the handle is missing there’s a hole where the top of the handle has come away from the beaker its slightly out of shape.On one side of the beaker the whole of the nursery rhyme is written and on the other side the nursery rhyme is chased out in figures. There is a cartouche with baby’s initials on it. They read T>H>H The beaker is dented split holed and out of shape but belongs with the spoon that’s in very good condition. What a christening present and heirloom for any new born baby Spoon measures 6 inch long beaker is 3 inch tall x 2 1/2 inch wide
